You can run, but you can’t hide…he thought to himself as he watched the young girl run about the hill. It was quite obvious to him that she knew he was there. If she didn’t, why run? Nothing here was dangerous. Except for him, and he knew that.
The girl glanced up in his direction, but he pretended not to notice. Surprise was key in his game. She continued to run down the hill, which was covered in various shrubbery.
“That’s it… Run yourself tired, sister. I can wait. After all, Ammira, you’re only making it easier for me,” he laughed. He leaned back against a tree and continued to watch his prey.
Ammira became distracted and tripped over a small bush. When she looked back up, the man was standing not too far off, smirking at her. He made no move to go after. This scared her more than anything, and she struggled to get back to her feet. Pain shot up through her body as she noticed her ankle had been twisted. As she tried to run, she fell once more and tumbled to the bottom of the hill.
He took this as his cue to make a move. He strolled down the hill, looking uncaring. When he reached Ammira, he stopped. “Why, hello, sister,” he hissed.
She tried to back away, but only found herself pinned against a bush.
“Why, don’t be afraid, sister. I’m Paul. Haven’t you ever heard of me? I guess not. Ah well. This was a fun game, wasn’t it? Don’t worry. I only wish to help you,” he assured her before pulling out a dagger and plunging it into her leg. He watched happily as the girl fainted.
