1. What is the planet itself like?
Earth. It has many variances in temperature and biomes, there are 7 major continents but Feathers takes place in North America. The planet itself has one moon and an atmosphere mainly made of an ozone layer and many different gases which support life.
2. List the different continents. Describe each one.
I am sure you know the basics being that it is Earth. However out of formality I have researched North America. It is bordered by the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on east and west respectively as well as the Arctic in the north. It has several mountain ranges, deserts, forests, swamps, and even marsh lands, and is highly diverse in population.
3. Describe the area your story takes place in.
A large, unnamed city (likely New York?) on the east coast of North America. There is a huge population of people but the few (namely two) magical beings who live there have learned to cope and hide. It is relatively mildly temperature-wise but can range from 52 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. (Please note those are record lows/highs.)
4. What are the politics like?
Well, typical Earth politics. However that does not involve the story. Instead, there is the world of angels where it is ruled by a Council or Circle. Esani is at the head while there are two others to balance her, one of each other angel type.
5. Describe any religious beliefs?
They believe there is no higher power, no god. Esani believes she IS practically a god. Arch angels are not 'god's chosen angels' as they are for humans but rather the shepherds of dead souls.
6. What is the technology like?
Typical 21st century current-day technology.
7. What is the art like in this world?
Paintings for the most part, and music. You will also see books laying around throughout the story.
8. Describe the language?
English, American dialect. It's fairly proper for the most part.
9. Are there any gender issues?
Homosexuality is not accepted. In general, love between different races is not as well.
10. What sort of foods are common?
Chicken, potatoes, and other things like that will be in the story. Fruit too, mostly grapes.
11. What is the level/type of medicine used in this world?
In the human world it is based on pills and surgery. For the angels, magic. They do not usually need healing, though.
12. What sort of economy does this world have?
Monetary consisting of dollar bills, quarters, etc.
13. What sort of traditions/ideals get passed down?
For the most part, none. Just rules and regulations for the angels. The elves are the ones who pass down traditions more frequently.
14. Describe the social classes in this world.
Guardians are the highest, treated with respect and awe. There are very few of this type of angel and it takes a lot to have been created as one. (It involves full revival of the soul but not the body, few attempts are successful.)
Then come the Arch angels. They are the parallel to Guardians. They are not born they are created by other Arch angels and it involves transfer of one life into another, more similar to reincarnation. It can only be done with powerful souls.
Last there are the Watchers. This type of angel is hardly respected and is the most common. They are lowly, only have one or two magical abilities. They are born from the souls of humans who died from an accident. This involves an Arch angel guiding their soul away from the void and into the light. It almost always succeeds.
15. What kind of relationship do your people/creatures have with nature?
Angels believe nature is sacred. Elves as well. Humans not so much.
16. Describe the general ethics of your world.
While everyone is supposed to be good and such, there is a lot of corruption in this story.
17. Are there any important historical events that occurred?
Aside from typical human history, there is also a string of events which cause Esani's rage and Hasir's downfall as well as Kanzali's rebirth. These events are described near the beginning of the story.
