Lucas peered at the running girl with hungry eyes. He would not let her get away! But... oh ho... He would relish every moment with his prey. He would watch her run in fear as it took over her young brain. He would make small sounds that seemed to resonate from all around, just to see her flinch. Her mind would never be empty of the creeping thoughts that he was there.
He smiled to himself as his plan formed in his mind. Silently, he knelt down and picked up a small stone, and let it roll around in his palm for a moment. He felt the smooth surface glide across his hand and smiled even more. With a gently flick of his wrist, he tossed the stone and it landed at the other end of the dark street, causing a light sound to reverberate from the walls of the many buildings around.

Alexandria nearly jumped out of her skin at the faint sound. She looked around, trying to find the source, but she could see nothing. Biting her lip, she continued down the street though her pace slowed slightly. There was no telling where the psychopathic man had disappeared to. She steered away from the side of the street where the noise had come from and watched it carefully as she walked by. She could not see anything.
With a deep sigh, she continued down the street. So far, so good. If she could only make it to the other side of town, she would be home, and home was safe.

Lucas' smile widened as the girl moved closer to where he was hiding. Everything was going according to plan. Just to be sure that she would continue doing as planned, he threw another stone to other side of the street again, but this time, behind her.

She stopped and whirled around, staring into the black alleys. Still, she could see no one there…unless… She ran in the direction the noise came from, and she was not surprised to find a stone lying upon the ground. She picked it up and twirled it in her fingers. Her pursuer was pretty smart, but he underestimated her. She took off in the direction she had been initially spotted by the man.

Lucas cursed under his breath as the girl went into the opposite direction. "Not following the plan... Fool."
He turned around angrily and made his way back to the where he had first seen the girl. His prey was sneaky this time. Yes.... It was going to be a very good night.

Her breathing was beginning to become more and more labored. Never before had she run so much or so far in a single night. She stopped momentarily in front of one of the buildings, swallowing a mouthful of oxygen into her burning lungs. She bent her knees and placed her hands upon them.
“Come on, you stupid adrenaline. Pump,” she mumbled to herself. She took off once more though at a slower pace.

Lucas chuckled evilly as he watched the girl try to catch her breath. It was almost time. Just a little more of the hunt and her blood would be filling the street as he caught her. The anticipation was excrutiating. His palms began to sweat under the handle of his favorite weapon.

She came to a stop in front of the building the man had stood outside of. It was a well-known fact that the villain always returned to the scene of the crime. If he tried anything, she could make enough of a racket to awake the residents within as they were his initial targets. She just hoped that her plan did not have any holes in it. Hand-to-axe combat was a certain loss for the unfortunate combatant without the weapon. In that case: her.

Lucas went to move in for the kill as the girl stopped, but he stopped when he saw where she was standing. It was the house that he had planned to go into in the first place. She had her own plan... That would not be good. Everything had to go according to his plan. Slowly, he backed away, down the alley again. It seemed that he would have to find his prey in another place this night. Before he turned around though, he took careful measure of her face and height. He would find her again. Of that he was sure.

She sat down upon the deck stair to the building and brought her legs up close. She noted to herself that upon the next night out she should invest in a pair of chaps and a revolver. It certainly was a fool thing to just run about in the night clad in a long skirt that warranted the risk of tripping especially while unarmed. She would not make that mistake again.

The church bells chimed loudly in the early morning light, waking the sleeping Lucas. He opened his eyes slowly and breathed deeply. He wanted to sleep. He tried to cover his ears with one of the pillows on his bed, but the bells still rang out in his head. With a loud curse, he threw the pillow to the floor and rose from his large bed. In the distance, he heard the voice of a young boy crying out the news, but he could not hear the exact words.
He quickly put his robe on and strode down the staircase. He opened his front door and saw the young boy running from house to house as the doors were opened. His hands were full of freshly printed newspapers.
The boy saw Lucas' door open, and he quickly ran toward his house. "I fink it would be wise if you locker yer doors an' windows at night, sir. The Blood Moon Killer 'as struck again, very close ta 'ere."
Lucas tossed the boy a coin and took one of the papers from his grimy hands, "Thank you, young man. I shall be sure to heed your very helpful advice." With a large grin and a nod of his head, the boy ran to another house, shouting the news.
Lucas went back into his house and closed the door, smiling to himself. News sure was spreading faster and faster with each wonderful act of his.

Alexandria awoke with a start as the sun came up over the horizon. She had not meant to fall asleep, but she could not help it. After a quick onceover of her body, she got up and fled the porch, smoothing out her skirt as she hurried along. She had to find better clothes and a good gun, or at the very least a hunting crock as she had seen Holmes carry whenever he was out on a job.
When she was in the store, she fabricated a lie about buying the piece for her father. The man was very reluctant, but to keep the girl from making a scene, he gave her the gun and warned her not to let anyone know he had sold it to her. After concealing it within the folds of her skirt, she went to the tailor to once more buy her “father” a present. She would be ready the next night.
As she walked down the street, she could hear the boy shouting out the news. The Blood moon Killer struck again! She thanked the heavens that it was not her life the boy was speaking about. She quickly exchanged a coin for the boy’s paper and read it over, trying to figure out how to get the upper hand upon her adversary.

Lucas brought the newspaper into his library and rang a bell, calling his butler, Alastair. A few moments later, Alastair walked in and stood in the doorway, "Yes, my lord?"
"Do you happen to know if I have any appointments today?" Lucas asked, taking a small sandwich off of a tray on the table next to him.
"I believe that you are scheduled to have lunch with Lady Moore in her garden, sir."
Lucas munched on the sandwich a little more, his mind deep in thought. "Very well." he sighed, "Is that all?"
"Yes sir."
"Thank you, Alastair. You may go."
Alastair bowed his head and turned on his heel before exiting the room.
Lucas sighed again, "Lady Moore... This day is going to be eventful..."

“The Blood Moon Killer…” she mumbled to herself, trying to wrap her mind around the idea that the man she had seen last night was the very man that she was reading about in the paper. “Who could he be?”
She was in no hurry to return home. After all, there was nothing awaiting her. She lived alone, and life was for the most part dull. However, in the heart of the city, she could get her fill of entertainment and excitement. There was always a mystery to uncover, and she hungered to solve every single one.
“If only I could actually meet Holmes. He would probably have this whole case solved in a heartbeat,” she thought aloud, kicking at the ground. Her newly purchased chaps bounced on her back with every step she took. If only night could come sooner. She needed to see the Blood Moon Killer again. She hoped that if she saw him one more time, she could gain enough knowledge to find him in the city in daylight when he would be less likely to attack.

Lucas rapped on the large door with his cane and waited for someone to open the door. He was getting impatient when a man in a black suit and white gloves opened the door. The ever punctual butler of Lady Moore...
"Lord Barrington," the butler bowed his head slightly. "Lady Moore has been expecting you. Please come in."
Lucas walked through the doorway and removed his hat and coat, tossing them toward the butler.
"Shall I take your cane, my lord?" the butler asked.
Lucas glared at him with narrow eyes, "I would like to be able to walk."
"Y-yes, my lord."
Lucas began to walk through the house, "I know my way. No need to show me."
The butler stared after him, his mouth open in awe.
