They say that the only sure things in life Are taxes and death.
After gathering information and A bit of math practice and Carefully filing out the forms Then sending them in to the government At Federal and State level.
After gathering training tips and a lot Of running practice and carefully Filing the registration forms Then sending them in for the marathon.
Who knew The end of the race would really Be the end of the race for some Who knew that filing for taxes would coincide With events that will forever be remembered on tax day.
Crowds cheered As runners crossed the finish line But only marathoners know what it’s Like to cross the finish line No doubt to cheers from within themselves For a job well done.
On this day the news is unremitting No one knows Who planted the bombs or why. Was it to kill people or just out of pure hatred Of the sport that unites a community? And accepts people of every shape, race, religion and ethnic background.
They say that the only sure things in life Are taxes and death.
Who knew they would both fall on the same day?

I love the connection between death and taxes. A truly gripping poem.
