"I'm sorry, but it was just easier this way. Carea doesn't know the way and if we both flew it'd be harder to hide. I can't really stretch the spell over all of us unless you two are on my back," Tyvra explained. His voice sounded slightly strained, losing the cool edge it often took. It was the magical exertion.

Ammira bit her lip. Tyvra did not sound like himself anymore. “I guess that is true, but are you sure you need to use this spell for so long? Wouldn’t it be better to use it only when it is necessary? After all, Carea and I fly around all the time without any kind of magical assistance. You don’t want to strain yourself too much,” Ammira said, patting his side.
Carea rolled her eyes. “I am sure Tyv knows what he’s doing….”

"Don't worry about me so much Ammira. I appreciate the concern, but the spell will not need to be held for long. Where we are going, dragons are welcomed with open arms," Tyvra replied. He was letting some of the surprise slip but he wanted them to be excited.

Carea perked up. “Dragons? With an s?” she asked, clasping her hands together. “Will there be other dragons there?” She bounced with excitement.
Ammira smirked. “Down, girl, down!” she teased, holding Carea still so she would not bounce right out of her saddle.

Tyvra smirked. "Calm down, you'll see. I do not want to have to go into a dive to grab you if you fall off my back Carea."
He extended his wings fully and glided, catching an updraft. It caused them to climb higher until he could just smoothly fly along without as much physical effort. The mark on his cheek burned angrily but he did his best to ignore it. Charon was not going to screw up this trip for him. Not now.

“Oh, fine…” Carea huffed, crossing her arms.
“I don’t know. Dives are fun!” Ammira teased, nudging Carea in the shoulder. Carea squealed and held onto Tyvra tightly. “I wasn’t pushing you off, you oversized lizard!” Ammira laughed.

He turned his head as far back as he could to glance over his shoulder. It was the side where his face was normal save for a few wayward scars. "Relax you two. It's going to be a long enough flight without teasing."
((Time skipping~))
Days later they arrived at a mountain range. He'd removed the invisibility spell about a day or so ago and regained all of his stamina. He was even in a cheerful mood. He circled low over a human village where the homes were built in the old style. He smirked. To Ammira it probably looked like they'd slipped back in time. Children rushed from their homes, smiling, and pointing at Tyvra as he flew past. He waved and moved on, rising up toward a mountain overlooking the village. Colourful, sparkling, gems dotted its side along with several cave mouths.

“Alright. I’ll behave…” Ammira promised. “Maybe…”
((Now I follow time skip.))
Carea looked down, her jaw dropping down lower than it ever had. “Humans? Approving of dragons? What? How? Why?” she gasped, looking around at the children. The only humanoids she had ever been around were Ammira and Jazlin, but even they weren’t exactly human. She counted Ammira as human because she was actually human except for the fact that she had a dragon, and Jazlin counted him as a human because he was a faerie, but he could walk among the humans.
Ammira leaned over the side of Tyvra, loosening her saddle straps so she could get a better look. “Déjà vu…” she mumbled.

"Just wait until you see this!" Tyvra laughed. He climbed through the air until he was even with the largest of the cave mouths. He landed and let out a small breath of ice blue fire. It sparkled along the cave's walls, illuminating the catacombs inside. A large, white dragon approached them. He made Tyvra look small.
He spoke in a warm but booming voice. "Tyvra! It has been years, old friend."
Tyvra bowed his head low. "It has indeed, Karashe. It's hard to remain in contact when you live so far away. I'd like you to meet my friends Carea and the dragon rider Ammira."

Carea and Ammira turned and stared at each other. “No way…” Ammira gasped, turning and looking up at the large dragon. “This is just… wow… no way…”
Carea beamed. “I cannot believe it! All this time, I thought the dragons were gone, but here one is! I just… Oh, man! This is amazing!” She clapped her hands together in excitement. “I never realized dragons were so huge in comparison to humans… This is quite…different.”

The white dragon lowered his head to Carea, brushing the scales of the tip of his nose against her soft skin. He smiled. "You have come a long way young one. You smell of humans and ocean and sky. I can even smell city. There are no dragons where you are but this-" He paused to gesture with a wing. "This is my world. This is my Clan. We are safe here and always have been."
The huge dragon, Karashe, backed away to allow Tyvra room to lower himself to the ground to let them off.
"Not all of us are as large as him, as I'm sure you know," Tyvra explained. "But Karashe has been around more than twice as long as I have. He is a guardian of our kind, Carea. Any dragons left in the world have come here where they will no longer be hunted. Here we have reached paradise."

“Apparently not all,” Carea pointed out, crossing her arms. “Ammira! We should have found this place sooner!”
“Hey, don’t blame me! It’s not like I didn’t just find your egg laying in a dungeon or anything,” she mumbled, rolling her eyes as she undid the braces on the saddle. She jumped down off his side and landed in a kind of roll before turning to help dismount Carea.
Carea achieved a much more graceful dismount. “Well… I guess we are here now! This will be…fun!” Carea chirped, turning back to Tyvra. “Thank you thank you thank you!”

"I thought you two would enjoy it," Tyvra said. "But this is just the beginning."
Karashe turned with a practiced motion. He had to keep his tail tucked close to himself to avoid whipping it through the cave. Yet, it was obvious he'd lived here long enough to know its ins and outs and how to avoid unwanted injury. He walked with a regal air similar to a benevolent king.
He led them into the cave further until they arrived at an extremely large cavern. It smelled of dragonfire and was likely carved out by their own fire and talons. All around it other dragons lounged, ate, talked, and stretched. Hatchlings scrambled along the floor, tackling one another and rolling. Then they stopped and ran over, weaving playfully between Karashe's legs. He did his best to step around them and they did- taking preference to tackle Tyvra instead who nipped playfully at them in return. The mountain here was very much alive.

“The beginning?” Carea repeated, following close to his side. She wished she was in her real form among the other dragons. Being human among such large creatures was not exactly high on her list of things she enjoyed. “This is so…unreal… I am awake, right?” she asked.
Ammira punched her in the arm.
“Um…ow!” she groaned.
“Yup. You’re awake,” Ammira giggled.
“You really are a pest…”
“I know.” She grinned from ear to ear and looked around. “Aw! Carea, you used to be cute like that, too!” she laughed, watching the hatchlings play with Tyvra.
“Wow…” Carea mumbled, not even hearing what her rider said. All of her life, she had grown up separated from such activity, and now that she was finally experiencing it, she was filled with a deep longing for a childhood she never really got to have like these hatchlings. A single tear rolled down her cheek, but she quickly brushed it away as she had seen Ammira do before. She did not want anyone to see her cry.

Tyvra seemed not to notice her tears. He shooed the hatchlings away and brushed against Carea's cheek in a gentle nuzzle. "You know, if you'd like you can be a dragon again. The spell is bound to your will."
One of the hatchlings- a small, black one, clambered over to Carea. It looked up with golden eyes with a blue ring around its slit pupil. It nipped at her teasingly, wanting to play tag or some other game.
